The Green North – Traveling with Children in Northern Israel

One of the most beautiful regions in Israel is the green and picturesque north. This region offers a variety of tracks and trails with abundant streams, mountains and forests. It awaits you, so just bring plenty of water and high spirits. To connect first-hand to the region’s wondrous nature visit the Golan Heights, the Upper Galilee, the Western Galilee, the northern coastal region and the distant border areas. Rosh Hanikra is one of most northern spots of our small country, located near Nahariya and overlooking Israel’s Mediterranean coastline, where the sea meets the cliffs. The site offers one of the spectacular observation points in Israel, with a cable car that takes you down to the sea grottoes as you enjoy the breathtaking view while traveling up and down. When traveling with children the accompanying history of a location, a testament to its uniqueness, is not less importance. Rosh Hanikra, located on an ancient coastal route, offers a fascinating and rich history, along with marine attractions and adventures for the entire family.

Traveling with Children to the Red South

Yes, the south is red (it rhymes in Hebrew – hadarom hu adom) - red hot in summer, with brown-yellow-reddish earth tones, and covered with a magnificent carpet of scarlet red anemones in full bloom after the rainy season. If you want to visit the southern region with children, you can begin with the breathtaking landscape of the Negev desert with its reddish desert terrain. The unique view is that of untouched and majestic vastness, of crevices, streams and unique plant life. Among the places that are a must for those traveling with children in Israel in general and in the south in particular, are Masada, Poreh Nature Reserve, Ein Bokek, the David stream, Ein Ovdat and Kibbutz Be’eri. Enjoy the best landscapes the southern region of Israel has to offer at the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, Avdat National Park, festivals in the Arava, breathtaking observation points such as Mitzpeh Ramon, and of course the Dead Sea.
